Pollinator garden plan

For this project, one of the key goals was native species diversification across the site, developing a 11m x 8m pollinator garden as a trial area. The aim is to test how the selected species (grown from seeds, slips and cuttings sourced from nearby forests and nurseries) perform over a year, before replicating this approach across the property. The trial patch allows for easier management and protection from browsing wildlife (deer and elephants) during the early growth stage. Before the 2025 monsoon, the pathway was marked and laid out, with planting scheduled for the 2026 monsoon. Once there are permanent caretakers on the land, planting will expand into the rest of the land, ensuring proper monitoring.

This native pollinator garden is part of a broader 3-acre masterplan to diversify the timber-dominant farm, transforming it into a biodiverse retreat for the owner and their family, with space for yoga and Ayurvedic retreats. The masterplan includes earthworks and planting strategies, developed in parallel with an external architecture team working on the structures.
